How Can Rhinitis Along With Runny Nose be Treated?
I have very mild rhinitis diagnosed this year. It has been a slightly runny nose at times with no congestion that is it although it does bother me. I have now got a low hissing sound in both of my ears which is causing me great concern. I have also developed three heavy colds in the last few weeks I never used to suffer from colds or ailments before a trauma i experienced) With this recent cold i cannot smell anything at all. will my sense of smell come back i am very worried.
Loss of smell is very common with common cold and generally it comes back within 1-2 weeks and there is nothing to worry. As for the rhinitis because you have had the runny nose for so long probably allergic rhinitis is the cause and having some cetirizine or loratadine orally, one tablet at night can help with it and can be tried. Sometimes nasal steroids are used to help reduce local inflammation in the nose and improve the symptoms.
I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
